At a glance
Exploited. Added to CISA’s catalog of exploited vulnerabilities on August 17, 2026.
CISA asks you to hunt for signs of compromise: patching is not enough if the device has already been breached.
Affected product: Ray (category AI and automation, indicative classification). Name in CISA’s catalog: Ray-Project Ray.
What should I do?
Apply the patches or mitigations from Ray; if none are available, stop using the product. Start with internet-facing devices.
CISA also asks you to hunt for signs of compromise: patching is not enough if the device has already been breached.
Deadline set by CISA for US federal agencies: 3 days (due August 20, 2026). It only binds those agencies, but it is a useful measure of urgency.

Description
Ray is an AI compute engine. Prior to version 2.52.0, developers working with Ray as a development tool can be exploited via a critical RCE vulnerability exploitable via Firefox and Safari. This vulnerability is due to an insufficient guard against browser-based attacks, as the current defense uses the User-Agent header starting with the string "Mozilla" as a defense mechanism. This defense is insufficient as the fetch specification allows the User-Agent header to be modified. Combined with a DNS rebinding attack against the browser, and this vulnerability is exploitable against a developer running Ray who inadvertently visits a malicious website, or is served a malicious advertisement (malvertising). This issue has been patched in version 2.52.0.
Official description from the NVD, collected Sep 29, 2026. CVE® description © The MITRE Corporation.
Ray-Project Ray contains a code injection vulnerability that could allow remote code execution. Developers using Ray as a development tool may be exposed to this vulnerability exploitable through Firefox and Safari.
